The person behind the work
Meet the Owner
I'm Karabo, the founder of Unbound Engineering. After a few years in the HVAC trade, I started this company because I was tired of seeing homeowners get ripped off by sloppy installs and disappearing contractors. I manage every job personally — from your first WhatsApp message to the final walkthrough. My crew has decades of combined experience, and I send you photo updates throughout the install so you know it's done right.
What we do
Home aircon installations
We focus on getting aircon into homes properly. Three things, done well.
Inverter Split Systems
The most popular choice for Gauteng homes. Quiet, efficient, and cuts your electricity bill.
Multi-Split Systems
Cool or heat multiple rooms with one outdoor unit. Perfect for growing families.
Full Replacements
Out with the old, in with the new. We remove your outdated system and upgrade you to modern inverter technology.
We also handle servicing, repairs and commercial work — see all services.

What Should You Budget?
A quality single-room inverter split system, properly installed, starts at R9,500 and typically ranges up to R16,000 depending on brand, copper run length, and electrical requirements. We don't do R3,000 installs because we don't do R3,000 quality. If you're comparing quotes, I'm happy to look at them and tell you if you're getting a fair deal.

Which Air Conditioner Size Do I Need?
Getting the size right matters. Too small and the unit runs flat out all day; too big and it switches on and off constantly and wastes electricity.
Not sure which size you need? Send me a WhatsApp with your room size and I'll tell you, free.

Compare technologies
Inverter vs Fixed Speed
Two very different machines. Here's the plain-English difference.
Inverter
- Uses less electricity
- Much quieter to live with
- Holds the temperature steadily
- Costs a bit more upfront
- Best if you run it daily
Fixed Speed
- Cheaper to buy
- Fine for occasional use
- Eats more electricity
- Simpler, older technology
My honest advice: if you're going to use it regularly, go inverter. It costs more today but you'll feel the difference on your Eskom bill and it lasts longer.
System types
Types of Air Conditioning Systems
Every space suits a different system. These are the three we install most across Gauteng.
Split Air Conditioner
Ideal for
Homes, bedrooms, lounges & offices
The most common choice in Gauteng homes — quiet, efficient, wall-mounted or floor-standing.
Cassette Air Conditioner
Ideal for
Offices, restaurants & shops
Sits in the ceiling and blows air four ways, so big open rooms cool evenly.
Ducted Air Conditioner
Ideal for
Bigger homes & commercial buildings
One system hidden in the ceiling cooling every room, with almost nothing on show.
